Resume Writing - Create a Customer Service Resume in 3 Simple Steps

Having trouble getting a customer service position? Perhaps all you need to do is to modify your resume to make it look more professional, and you will be getting calls from prospective employers. Here is how to create a professional looking resume for a customer service position.

Step 1: Write a clear objective. In just one sentence, summarize your career objective. Write as if there is no chance for the interviewer to read the rest of your resume. In reality, this happens quite often because interviewers have no time to read through ALL the resumes that they receive. A customer service position are sought after by literally hundreds of candidates. So yours have to REALLY stand out.

Step 2: Focus on the summary. If the interview gets past the objective, he or she will scan through the summary. Make full use of the summary to highlight your strengths as well as your professional experiences. Don't list EVERYTHING. Use the bullet list to offer only relevant skills and info. For example, you may have over 10 years of service rep. experience. Pick the strongest performance and list that in your summary.

Step 3: Focus on key qualities required for the position. - As you write the rest of your resume, use keywords that describe desirable personality traits. A customer service rep. is expected to have a pleasant personality, enjoy talking with people, and have a patient character. Such traits allow the individual to deal with challenging day to day situations such as facing angry customers.
